Arab Human Rights Declining

A human rights group in Cairo released a report in December that said that Arab human rights have deteriorated, according to the AP. The report was meant to coincide with the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The group said that Egypt has exerted influence on international organizations such as the United Nations, to prevent reform of human rights. It criticized the Arab League for supporting repressive governments, which it said included Yemen and Sudan. Judicial systems in Arab countries in general, it said, lack independence.
"The Arab League has become more expressive of authoritarian tendencies than any time in the past," the report said.
